Eva Balounová is a post-doc researcher at the Centre for Climate Law and Sustainability Studies at the Institute of State and Law of the Czech Academy of Sciences in Prague. She focuses on international and European environmental and climate law. Currently, she is interested in the topic of climate litigation.
Eva is a graduate in law from Charles University in Prague (Mgr.) and the University of Iceland (LL.M.). At the University of Iceland, she was awarded a grant from the Centre for the Arctic Policy Studies for her final thesis “The scramble for the Arctic – protection of the marine mammals.” In 2019, Eva completed her Ph.D. studies at Charles University in Prague, for her final thesis “Legal regulation of climate protection following the adoption of the Paris Agreement” she received the Josef Vavrousek Award. Since 2015, Eva has been working as a legal consultant in the Chamber of Deputies of the Parliament of the Czech Republic, where she also participated in an EU funded twinning-project with Moldova.
